The Sons of The American Legion was created in 1932 as an organization within The American Legion. The S.A.L. is made up of men of all ages whose parents or grandparents served in the United States military and became eligible for membership in The American Legion. Together, members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of The American Legion make up what is known as The American Legion Family.
Nationally there are currently more than 300,000 members of the Sons of The American Legion. Membership in the S.A.L. has increased each year for the past 33 years and the current membership is an all-time high. In addition to all 50 states, there are Detachments of the Sons of The American Legion in the District of Columbia, France, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and Mexico. There are more than 6000 members of the Sons of The American Legion here in Texas.

Squadron 164 meets every 1st Thursday of the month at the American Legion Post 164 Katy, 22125 Kingsland Blvd. Katy 77450. Throughout the year there are many individual events going on, so please check the schedule below and come and join us, we would be delighted to see you! If you click on an event, it will expand and show you further details.
We also meet at the Elks Lodge on the first Saturday of every month 7 - 10 AM for Breakfast with a Veteran - a $10 all-you-can-eat breakfast organized by the Post, the Auxiliary and the Elks where members of the public and their families are very welcome.

Membership
It is possible to hold a dual membership in both, The American Legion and the Sons of The American Legion. All male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in service during the period of April 6, 1917, through November 11, 1918, or any time from December 7, 1941 to date, who served honorably, as set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for membership in the Sons of The American Legion.
